Job summary

Newport News, Virginia-based Riverside Regional Medical Center is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse to manage the nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director.

The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care using evidence-based practices and collaborative teamwork to achieve optimal patient outcomes. New grads receive a $6,000 bonus; RNs with 2 years experience may receive a $7,000 bonus. Shifts are 7am–7pm with weekend rotations.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include a Nursing degree (BSN/ADN or diploma) or equivalent program.
• Licensure as RN in Virginia or compact state with active license and BLS/CPR.
• Weekend shifts and irregular shifts required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs and develop a care plan.
• Collaborate with family to implement and evaluate the plan of care.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team and ensure safe transitions.
• Document care and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff to maintain quality care.
• Respond to emergencies and utilize available resources to meet patient needs.

The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of the specific patient populations served in nursing unit. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans.What you will doDemonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population.
