Job summary

MetroHealth in Ohio is seeking a registered nurse for the 7 West Critical Care Step Down Unit. You will provide patient-centered care to adults with CHF, COPD, DKA, and sepsis, performing bedside procedures and coordinating with PCNAs, providers, and rehabilitation staff.

The role emphasizes EKG interpretation, central line care, and respiratory support including Bi-PAP and vents, with rotating weekends/holidays and 7a-7p/7p-7a shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on the 7 West Critical Care Step Down Unit.
• Perform EKG interpretation and monitor telemetry.
• Manage airway support (Bi-PAP, high flow oxygen, Trach/vents) as needed.
• Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies).
• Demonstrate critical thinking, delegation, and time management.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7a-7p/7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Congestive Heart Failure
• COPD
• DKA
• Sepsis

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• EKG interpretation
• Central Line care
• Rescue Bi-pap, High Flow Oxygen, Trach/Vents,
• Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies)
• Critical thinking, delegating, time management

Personnel RN will work with:

• Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT, OT

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds
