Job summary

State of Washington is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 (RN2) for Coyote Ridge Corrections Complex in Connell, WA. The position is full-time with a Saturday-Wednesday schedule (Thu-Fri off). The RN will provide nursing care to inmates, manage health records, and participate in a multi-disciplinary health services team.

Salary ranges include a monthly range and an hourly range with shift differentials. Certification and one year RN experience are required; AHA CPR training is expected.

Responsibilities

• Promote health and heal, support coping with health conditions.
• Screen, assess, and evaluate incarcerated individuals.
• Respond to all requests for health care with timely, clinically appropriate actions.

• Assist patients in improving self-care and family care abilities.
• Counsel, educate, and provide health information to improve care.

Registered Nurse 2 (RN2) Fulltime, Permanent Coyote Ridge Corrections Complex (CRCC) Connell, WA

Schedule: Saturday- Wednesday 6:00AM -2:30PM (Thursday and Friday off)

Registered Nurse 2:

Monthly Salary Range: $8,151- $13,362

Hourly Salary Range: $46.84-$76.79

Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) team to make a real difference in the lives of others and to find personal fulfillment in your role. DOC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center located outside the Tri Cities in Connell, WA.

Registered Nurses will receive shift differential in the amount of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour for evening shift and night shift work. Employees may also qualify for one or both of these supplemental shift premiums in addition to the above.

• One dollar ($1.00) per hour during any hours assigned to work from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
• Three dollars ($3.00) per hour during any hours worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.

This position supports the health services and DOC mission by ensuring that facility records are secure, complete and available on demand for the myriads of service areas within Health Services.

Coyote Ridge Corrections Center has a diverse population seeing different chronic diseases and taking care of those that need long term and palliative care.

Correctional Health is a rewarding career path at DOC, in which health care professionals treat a wide array of cases for patients residing in a state correctional facility. Health Services is responsible for basic primary care for incarcerated individuals. All disciplines within all of the 12 correctional facilities work closely together to reach a common goal, providing the best, most efficient, and cost-effective health care possible. Emphasis is placed on early identification of health concerns, care for acute and chronic health problems, and preventive care.

Some of what our RNs do:

• The registered nurse delivers services which promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment to various health conditions.
• Screening, assessing, and evaluating incarcerated individuals and their conditions
• Responding to all other requests for health care attention in a complete, timely, clinically appropriate and therapeutic manner;
• Delegating and supervising work, monitoring, managing, coordinating, and delivering health care;
• Planning transition, making referrals and arranging follow-up when patients transfer or return to the community;
• Assisting patients to improve their skill and ability to provide care for themselves and their family
• Counseling, consulting, teaching, advising, and providing health information that improves quality of health services and/or enhances safety and security.

Required Qualifications:

• Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse
• OR An unencumbered Multistate License from a participating Compact Licensure State as outlined by the Nurse Licensure Compact and Department of Health with completion of Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and MLS demographic survey.
• AND
  • One (1) year experience working as a Registered Nurse
  • Training by the American Heart Association in Healthcare Provider CPR.
  • Proficient using computer-based programs to schedule, monitor and track patient information, perform data entry and word processing, and communicate via email, as well as other programs that may be needed to complete assigned work.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.

Identifies key facts, understands the nature and relationship between data elements, recognizes underlying principles or patterns in an array of data, and determines if additional data should be collected. Uses judgement and critical thinking in the absence of clear guidelines to draw conclusions about further action.

Observation and Inspection

Critically observes and inspects people, conditions, and the environment to detect problems. Acutely aware of critical details, alert and attentive when performing other work, understands normal conditions and constantly compares the current status to the norm to identify subtle changes and incremental deviation, makes informed judgement about when a change in current status must occur and determines appropriate action. Uses insight to identify contributing and medicating factors. Understands thorough documentation and other forms of communication to cause others to understand and take appropriate action.

Decisiveness

Makes timely decisions without sacrificing quality even under ambiguous circumstances or when data is limited. Recognizes when a decision must be made and moves forward, delegates decision making authority appropriately, advocates for important patient care objectives and finds common ground, and solutions among diverse interests.

• Certification as a Correctional Healthcare Professional.
• Experience actively participating in the quality improvement process for any business, including brainstorming, proposing improvement plans, or measuring success.
