Job summary

Pittsburgh Mercy is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our community services team. You will provide clinical treatment services to populations such as individuals with serious mental illness and/or drug/alcohol addiction, promoting wellness and healthy outcomes through education, advocacy, and direct patient care in community settings.

The role is largely field-based (about 90% in the community) with day shifts, requiring strong assessment skills, knowledge of Medicaid policies, and

Qualifications

  • Working Knowledge and understanding of medication used in treating psychiatric disorders
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer documentation and electronic health record systems.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and persons served needs.
  • BSN in nursing and 1 year of nursing experience OR RN license and 2 years of nursing experience. Medical experience a plus
  • Valid Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
  • Valid driver license
  • Ability to drive an organization vehicle
  • Act 33/34/74 Clearances (Criminal/Child/FBI Department of Human Services)
  • Pre-Employment Drug Screen
  • Child Protective Services Law training (CPSL)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver/Observe and educate person served on medication(s)/side effects and use
  • Provides outreach, case management, counseling, advocacy, and other needed services to clients in any environment including: the streets, shelters, jails, hospitals, homes, apartments, personal care homes, state hospitals, inpatient hospital, and rehab settings.
  • Collaboration with treatment team to support techniques that are consumer-first and included trust and respect.
  • Majority (90%) of the work will be conducted in the community
  • Ability to develop treatment plans based on consumers stage of change for identified problems and needs
  • Ability to implement stage wise treatment interventions as well as exercise sound clinical judgment in routine, urgent, and emergent clinical situations
  • Link individuals to essential services and resources as clinically indicated
  • Requires extensive knowledge of Medicaid and Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services policies and regulatory guidelines.

DESCRIPTION:
POSITION PURPOSE:
  • We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our community services team. As an RN in community services, you will play a crucial role in providing clinical treatment services to the targeted populations.

  • You will work closely with diverse populations, including individuals with serious mental illness and/or drug/alcohol addiction.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is an Exempt (salary) position. Primarily Monday through Friday daylight 9-5p Will rotate on call responsibilities (50.00 day).
