Job Summary

Responsible for planning, organizing, and administering patient care within the scope of the applicant's training and expertise, collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. This is done in conjunction with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Tennessee.

Shift/Hours

Full time; 36 hours per week across 4 10-hour shifts. Tuesday–Friday 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., with some weekends, weekday call, and 1 holiday call. Call begins after the normal shift at 5:30 p.m. Typically 3–4 call days per month and at least 1 weekend call (Saturday or Sunday 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.). Occasional overtime may be required; this is volunteer-based. Must live within 30 minutes of the hospital.

Technical Capabilities
  • NURSING PATIENT ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION HOME CARE (NOVICE): Possesses fundamental proficiency to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty in the home setting. Performs autonomous care under physician orders, conducts patient interviews, assesses home safety, and performs a comprehensive physical assessment.
  • Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Provides fundamental patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Care Planning (Novice): Anticipates resource needs, prioritizes tasks, schedules activities, meets deadlines, and organizes work within direct responsibility areas. Adapts to changes in patient care and area needs with minimal disruption.
  • Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice (Novice): Searches for nutrition evidence to answer clinical questions and generally works under supervision.
