Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a registered nurse to plan, direct, and evaluate care in an OR or designated unit. You will coordinate nursing staff, educate on patient care, and respond to emergencies as needed to meet treatment goals.

The role requires a BSN and 2+ years in an OR setting, SC or compact state RN licensure, and current BLS certification; ACLS could be required for some positions. This is an on-site nursing position at MUSC facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and 2+ years RN OR in OR area.
• Charge Nurse Workshop attendance and MUHA Orientation within 6 months.
• SC RN license or compact state license.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS may be required.

Job Description

Plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Identifies expected outcomes for patients’ individualized treatment plan.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of two years of work experience as a registered nurse in an OR designated area of practice required. Attendance in the Charge Nurse Workshop and successful completion of the MUHA Charge Nurse Competency-Based Orientation is required within 6 months of hire. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required. Some positions require certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
