Job description

The role provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies and procedures. The nurse directs and manages the care of designated patients, utilizes effective communication, and maintains a safe work environment.

Job Duties
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care for designated patients and initiates collaborative communication with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Utilizes evidence‑based practice to optimize patient outcomes and participates in quality and safety initiatives.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues using verbal and non‑verbal styles.
  • Provides patient and family education throughout the treatment course for a smooth transition of care.
  • Supports unit and hospital goals, participates in performance improvement, and contributes to patient experience objectives.
  • Performs validated technical skills based on clinical specialty and unit practice.
  • Leverages technology to optimize alternate modes of care delivery.
  • Demonstrates leadership and teamwork, including teaching and mentoring new colleagues, delegating tasks, and contributing to performance appraisals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in patient care delivery.
  • Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to the specialty.
  • Attainment and maintenance of unit‑specific competencies.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Pennsylvania upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • One year of acute care experience or experience congruent with the role in this service line.
Physical Demands

Lifts and carries 40–50 lbs. Examples: pushes or pulls patients on a bed or stretcher requiring 29 lbs. push force, performs lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Requires frequent or continuous standing, walking, and may walk 8–10 miles per shift. Other tasks may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
