Job summary

Phaxis seeks an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its outpatient cardiology team in the Ballantyne area. This role focuses on direct patient care, triage, patient education, and care coordination in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Responsibilities include assessing patients and updating the EHR, performing treatments, starting IVs, and educating patients on medications and disease management; triage calls and direct patients to the proper care pathways as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure.
• Active North Carolina RN license and BLS certification.
• Outpatient and/or cardiology experience preferred.
• Experience using an electronic health record system.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, obtain histories and vital signs; document in the EHR.
• Carry out provider-ordered treatments and administer medications.
• Start IVs, administer IV fluids and monitor responses.
• Educate patients and families on medications and condition management.
• Triage patient calls and determine urgency and level of care.
• Direct patients to the appropriate care setting (provider, urgent care, ED).
• Support medical assistants and maintain efficient patient flow.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and communications.

Job description

An established cardiology practice in the Ballantyne area is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its outpatient team! This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who enjoys direct patient care, triage, patient education, and care coordination in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

• Assess patients, obtain medical histories and vital signs, and document findings in the EHR
• Carry out provider-ordered treatments and administer medications
• Start IVs, administer IV fluids, and monitor patient responses
• Educate patients and families on medications and acute and chronic condition management
• Complete medication refills, prior authorizations, forms, and electronic orders
• Triage patient calls and determine the appropriate urgency and level of care
• Direct patients to a provider, urgent care, or the emergency department when appropriate
• Serve as a clinical resource for urgent concerns, including chest pain, fainting, and hypoglycemia
• Participate in emergency response procedures when necessary
• Support Medical Assistants and help maintain efficient patient flow
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient communications

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
• Active North Carolina Registered Nurse license
• Current American Heart Association or client-approved BLS certification
• ACLS certification if applicable to the role
• Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience
• Outpatient and/or cardiology experience preferred
• Experience using an electronic health record system
• Strong clinical judgment, triage, communication, and patient-service skills
• Required TB screening and vaccination documentation or applicable declination forms
• Ability to remain active throughout the workday and lift or support up to 35 pounds
