Location

Rochester, Minnesota (Mary Brigh 6D (MB6D), Heart & Lung Transplant/Cardiovascular Surgery/Mechanical Circulatory Support Device progressive care unit)

Responsibilities

Provide progressive care for adult heart and lung transplant patients and cardiac surgical patients, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, managing equipment such as temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, central lines, nasogastric tubes, and wound care. Perform ECG monitoring, SpO2, non‑invasive blood pressure, arrhythmia detection. Provide patient and family education, discharge planning, promote independence in activities of daily living, and offer emotional support. Coordinate nursing care, collaborate with multidisciplinary team, and conduct preceptorship and quality‑improvement activities. Address staff needs, manage patient acuity, and ensure fiscal accountability.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN, CCNE, NLN CNEA). One year of RN experience required. Associate‑degree RNs starting on or after April 1, 2020 must provide documentation of completion of a baccalaureate degree within five years of start date; those starting before April 1, 2020 must provide proof of completion of a baccalaureate degree at the time of hire. Must hold a current RN license in Minnesota and a valid BLS certification (90 days post‑start); additional specialty certification may be required for the work area. Excellent communication, teamwork, computer skills, flexibility for day/night/holiday/weekend shifts and on‑call duties, and leadership and critical‑thinking skills are required.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $43.84 – $66.84. Mayo Clinic offers a nursing compensation model that rewards experience, education, and dedication, coupled with tuition reimbursement and other growth opportunities.

Schedule

Full time. 60 hours per pay period. 12‑hour shifts: Sunday‑Saturday, days/nights. Every other weekend. Flexible schedule including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on‑call duties.
