Job summary

Northwestern Medicine invites a Registered Nurse to join the Cardiac Intermediate unit (3A) for full-time night shift (7pm–7:30am) with rotating weekends. The role requires a BSN or ADN with plan to obtain BSN within three years, IL RN licensure, and BLS certification.

Emphasis on collaboration, data-driven care, and evidence-based practice. The unit features a 26-bed cardiac step-down in the BCVI, offering advanced cardiac care in a suburban setting with a comprehensive benefits package,

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois with a BSN suggested; ADN acceptable if pursuing BSN within 3 years.
• Current IL RN license and BLS certification required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies outcomes, develops care plans, and evaluates progress toward outcomes.
• Directs care and coordinates with assistants involved in patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and staff to document plans focused on outcomes.
• Participates in shared governance and unit projects.
• Evaluates patient responses to nursing interventions and updates care plans accordingly.
• Uses evidence-based practice to guide nursing decisions.

CDH Cardiac Intermediate (3A)

• 26 bed cardiac step-down unit that is part of Northwestern Medicine’s prestigious Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute (BCVI)
• As part of BCVI, we are able provide the same advanced cardiac care normally only available at a major academic medical center, but in a suburban setting.
• Our unit cares for patients with a variety of cardiovascular diagnoses, including post cardiac surgeries and procedures.

The Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan, focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services that indicates communications with patients, families, and others.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
• Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions.

Required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
