Job description

The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the direction of the Team Leader and is accountable to the Director of Nursing. The RN uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. The RN assesses, monitors, detects, plans and takes appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications and promotes optimal levels of health. The RN provides medication administration, treatments, and supervision of certified nursing assistants (CENAs) performing ADLs. The RN is accountable for integrating care within the scope of practice, licensure, relevant education and experience. The RN collaborates with Care Coordinators, Team Leaders and other team members to ensure communication and timely updates on resident’s changes in conditions. Policies and Procedures guide the RN’s job duties.

Responsibilities
  • Actively demonstrates the organization’s values and mission, and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values: safety of patients and staff, excellence, respect, value and enthusiasm.
  • Completes 100% of training, in-service, Do‑it Groups (DIGs) and Just Do It (JDI) requirements established by MNM and any professional or licensing organizations.
  • Collaborates with other members of the health care team to develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized written plan of care based upon a physiological, psychosocial, spiritual assessment consistent with patient or significant other’s changing needs and goals.
  • Completes medication administration and treatments per physician orders and state and federal guidelines, utilizing proper infection control and safety measures.
  • Seeks life‑long learning through certification, advanced practice, higher education, and literature review.
  • Demonstrates leadership through sharing of knowledge, being a clinical resource, and a professional role model.
  • Supervises CENAs to ensure patients receive ADLs according to the plan of care. Demonstrates effective communication through collegial relationships and interdisciplinary communication.
  • Demonstrates enhanced time‑management skills and ability to assist others in order to contribute to the overall performance of the team.
  • Performs other duties consistent with the purpose of the job as directed by general and unit‑specific competency‑based objectives.

  • License to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.
