Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Billings Downtown Clinic. The role requires comprehensive nursing care, assessment, planning, and coordination with the health team to deliver patient-centered care.

The RN must hold an active state license, complete BSN within four years if ASN/ADN, and maintain BLS-HCP certification; ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate are preferred for unit needs. Day shifts with four 10-hour days are typical.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.
  • ASN/ADN degree holders must obtain BSN within four years of hire unless they have 15+ years of RN experience in an acute care setting.
  • BLS-HCP certification on hire or within 60 days of hire; ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate.
  • BSN degree is preferred and certification appropriate for unit/service is preferred.

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

  • Preferred Qualifications: RN with at least 2 years of experience preferred. OBGYN expeirence preferred.
Scope

1.Performs general nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.

  1. Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality.
  2. Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition.
  3. Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
  4. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response. Refer to/consult with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
  5. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  6. Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
  7. Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
  8. Tracks quality assurance data and monitor for acute and chronic care management.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education

Required:

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.

A Registered Nurse with an ASN/ADN degree must complete a BSN degree within four (4) years from the Registered Nurse’s date of hire unless the Registered Nurse has a minimum of fifteen (15) years of proven continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting. Failure to obtain a BSN degree within that time frame may result in suspension or termination of employment. Any Registered Nurse who takes legally protected leave during the Four (4) year completion period may have the period extended by a comparable amount of time.

Registered Nurses employed by St Vincent, Good Samaritan, St. Joseph, or Lutheran Medical Centers as of September 1, 2014 with only an ASN/ADN will be exempt from this requirement. Registered Nurses employed by Holy Rosary, Platte Valley, St. Mary’s, Home Health, and TSFP as of December 31, 2017 with only an ASN/ADN will be exempt from this requirement.

Certification

Required:

Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval. (ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service.)

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree of Nursing is preferred

Certification as appropriate for unit or service is preferred

Previous experience as a Registered Nurse is preferred

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
