Job summary

Elliot Health System in Manchester, NH is seeking a Registered Nurse to support providers in a fast-paced surgical specialty environment. The RN will assist with rooming patients, in-office procedures, wound care, and documentation, while coordinating follow-up care and patient education.

The position requires an NH RN license (or compact state), BSN preferred, and ability to obtain BLS during orientation; ACLS preferred. Excellent teamwork and patient-centered care are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• BSN preferred.
• Licensure: NH RN or Compact State RN license.
• Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period.

Responsibilities

• Provides rooming for provider visits and assists with examinations and procedures.
• Supports in-office procedures with instrument setup and wound care assistance.
• Performs specimen collection and processing as per policies.
• Documents vital signs and age/condition-specific measurements.
• Coordinates post-procedure care and patient education.
• Manages medication refills and telephone triage per guidelines.
• Assists with prior authorizations for medications and procedures.
• Maintains teamwork and flexibility across MAs and RNs to support daily operations.

Position Summary

Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:30 pm

This team works together as a care team to support providers with patient care, in-office procedures, while ensuring efficient clinical workflow in a fast-paced surgical specialty environment. The RN will assist with rooming patients, patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, dressing changes, wound care, telephone triage, patient education, and coordination of services.

Key Responsibilities

• Embraces and promotes change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
• Involves patient/family in goal setting and planning and communicates that plan of care to patient and family for input; and to colleagues to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.
• Utilizes current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/or performance and identifies areas for improvement.
• Demonstrates competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.
• Assists providers with in-office procedures, including setup of instruments and supplies, wound care support, dressing changes, and suture or staple removal as directed.
• Obtains, documents and processes specimens using the appropriate collection process and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming activities for provider visits according to the documented rooming criteria.
• Obtains and documents age and/or condition-specific measurements accurately including vital signs.
• Supports perioperative workflow through patient education, post-procedure instructions, and coordination of follow-up care as directed.
• Performs electronic visit chart preparation activities based on the daily scheduled appointments including diagnostic results, emergency/urgent care reports, operative reports, discharge summaries and consult/PCP notes, and other relevant records are in the medical record and accessible to the provider.
• Processes medication prescription refills per guidelines using telephonic, electronic or print methods.
• Performs Telephone Triage.
• Handles prior authorization processes for medications and/or procedures and documents appropriately.
• Demonstrates flexibility and a strong team-oriented approach by continuing to perform all clinical duties within the scope of both Medical Assistants (MAs) and Registered Nurses (RNs), including direct patient care and routine clinical tasks, in order to support daily operations and ensure continuity of care.

Education/Experience/Licensure

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred. Licensure: New Hampshire Registered Nurse or Compact State Registered Nurse License. Technical Certification: Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment. ACLS preferred.
