Job summary

Summit Health Management seeks a Part-Time Medical Assistant in New Jersey to support physicians and staff with patient care and access. You will coordinate between patients, staff and physicians, maintain patient flow, and deliver care within licensure scope, documenting in EHR.

Responsibilities include collecting lab specimens, vital signs, injections, scheduling, and ensuring proper visit prep. Requires NJ nursing license, BLS, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree required; bachelor’s preferred.
  • New Jersey Nursing License and BLS certification required.
  • 0–1 years experience; 2–4 years preferred.
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks within licensure scope.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician and staff with daily coordination of patient care and physician access.
  • Function as the liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Maintains efficient patient flow.
  • Delivers direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with SMG policy.
  • Collects lab specimens according to departmental guidelines.
  • Accurately labels specimens.
  • Prioritizes patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures.
  • Ensures proper preparation for patient visit.
  • Prepares pertinent information needed for patient visit.
  • Employs appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.
  • Obtains vital signs: BP, temp, pulse, height & weight accurately.
  • Administers injections according to appropriate protocol.
  • Document injections accurately in EHR.
  • Appropriately demonstrates telephone triage protocols and documents in EHR.
  • Schedules appointments according to department guidelines.
  • Adheres to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste.
  • Reviews and updates medication list in EHR.
  • Documents known allergies in EHR.
  • Enters orders and schedules appointments in PMS and EHR.
  • Provides referrals and/or consult orders in PMS and EHR.
  • Checks logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
  • Facilitates transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
  • Maintains proficiency with department equipment, troubleshoots and reports malfunctions promptly.
