Job summary

AdventHealth Glendale Heights in Illinois is hiring a Registered Nurse for full-time night shift. You will provide direct patient care, administer meds, collaborate with physicians, and document assessments with a focus on safety and quality.

The position requires RN licensure, an Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred), and strong English communication. Starting pay is $37.50/hour with potential ladder advancement.

Qualifications

  • Abstract reasoning to assess patient needs and revise care plans.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based systems for documentation and charting.
  • Fluency in English for clear patient and team communication.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to unit and hospital codes and treat patients per protocols.
  • Supervise licensed and non-licensed nursing staff in safe patient care.
  • Assist physicians with bedside procedures and administer therapies.
  • Develop, prioritize, and document individualized care plans with patients and families.
  • Administer medications and IV infusions; monitor treatments.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain a safe environment, including restraints and fall-risk precautions.
  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and report findings to physicians.
  • Monitor lab results and respond to abnormal values; adjust care as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Starting pay: $37.50/hour

Schedule: Nights 7p-7a; Every other weekend and rotating holidays

  • Responds to and participates in unit and hospital code situations, treating patients according to protocols.
  • Supervises and guides licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel in delivering safe, therapeutic, and quality patient care.
  • Assists physicians with bedside procedures and performs therapeutic measures as prescribed.
  • Develops, prioritizes, and documents individualized care plans involving patients, families, and significant others.
  • Administers medications and treatments accurately and appropriately, including IV infusions and oxygen supplementation.
  • Provides patient and family education on care plans, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions, documenting the education provided and patient responses.
  • Maintains a safe patient care environment, including the use of restraints and fall risk precautions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performs and documents accurate initial and ongoing patient assessments, including physical and mental status, and reports findings to the responsible physician.
  • Monitors patient lab work for trends, reports abnormal results, and obtains appropriate interventions.
  • Evaluates and communicates patient responses to care plans and interventions to appropriate team members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes. [Required]
  • Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs. [Required]
  • Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills). [Required]
Education:
  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Work Experience:
  • 1+ years behavioral Health nursing experience [Preferred]
  • Experience with adult behavioral health patients [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Program [Preferred]
