Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Louisiana seeks a Registered Nurse to provide routine and complex patient care in a clinical setting. You will apply the nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—and delegate tasks as needed to team members to optimize patient outcomes.

The role requires a 7PM–7AM shift, full-time commitment. A BSN is preferred, with BLS and an active RN license in the state or a compact license, and about one year of related experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; not required but preferred.
• 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
• RN license in state of employment or compact.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocol; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Addresses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to manage clinical situations.

Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities:

• Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assess learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or care givers; identify issues and resources.
