Job summary

The Registered Nurse in CoxHealth's 8E Observation Unit provides personalized, goal-directed nursing care for patients needing monitoring, diagnostics, therapy or discharge planning after stability is reached.

Responsibilities include assessing conditions, administering medications, monitoring vitals, changing dressings, maintaining records, and educating patients and families while collaborating with ED, inpatient wards and outpatient services.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Previous nursing experience preferred.
• RN license active in Missouri; BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and monitor vital signs.
• Administer medications and change dressings.
• Provide patient and family education and support.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Coordinate care across ED, inpatient wards, and outpatient facilities.
• Ensure readiness for discharge based on medical stability.
