Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in Safford, AZ, to join our healthcare team managing care for incarcerated individuals. This position offers training for new graduates as well as a salary range of $40.50 to $45.00 per hour, based on experience and shift. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for full-time employees.

The RN will work closely with correctional officers, perform health assessments, manage chronic illnesses, and respond to emergencies, all while adhering to security protocols.

Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of medical professionals in Safford, AZ, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Arizona Department of Corrections - Safford.

Pay rates range from $40.50 to $45.00 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience.

$5,000 sign on bonus for Full‑Time employees.

As a Correctional Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment where security is top priority, you will perform physical assessments, administer medications, manage chronic illnesses, and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
• Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
• Provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
• Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
• Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
• Understand and adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with correctional officers and other health professionals to ensure safety and well‑being of patients.
• Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report any relevant information.

Qualifications

• Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state.
• Possesses an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required).
• Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health‑care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health‑care services.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed.
• Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional‑healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance‑abuse issues.
• Must maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and comply with all facility correctional‑healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
