Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) seeks a Registered Nurse for the Admissions Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, in Decatur, GA. Shifts available: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM and 11:00 PM–7:30 AM.

You will assess health problems, take and document vital signs, review current medications, notify the physician for orders, administer medications and nursing care, and educate patients on health maintenance.

Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Registered Nurse in the Admissions Unit , at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA.

7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:

Administers prescribed medicationsand notes times and amounts on clients’ charts Maintains accurate, detailed reports and client records Monitors all aspects of client care, including diet. Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in clients’ conditions Prepares clients for, and assists with, examinations and treatments Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and ensures that stock of supplies is maintained Provides education to client Provides health care, first aid.

Technical Competencies:

Ability to assess, plan for, and provide basic nursing skills; knows procedures including developing, implementing and revising plan of care Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, protocols, treatments, standards of care and nurse practice act Knowledge of the procedures for medication administration and can administer oral, sublingual and IM medications; knowledge of pharmacology Ability to perform CPR and for some sites, AED.

FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.

Preference will be given to those who, in addition to meeting the above qualifications, also possess the following:

Current Georgia RN License

Current CPR certification

Experience in mental health a plus

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse or Multistate license; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Registered Nurse 1 (HCP070) or position equivalent.
