Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Racine County Jail in Wisconsin. This full-time daytime role involves providing high-quality nursing care within the correctional setting, administering medications, monitoring patient status, and coordinating with the health care team.

The RN will promote patient safety, adhere to state practice acts, and supervise other nursing staff while delivering compassionate care and health education to inmates.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or have graduated from an approved RN program.
• Must possess a current license in this state.
• RN works in accordance with local practice acts and regulations, delegates and ensures supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Administer medications and monitor patients for reactions and side effects.
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, report changes in patients’ condition and coordinate with the healthcare team.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans with the team.
• Modify treatment plans as indicated by patient responses and conditions.
• Supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel.
• Prepare patients for examinations or treatments.
• Educate individuals and groups on health topics and prevention.
• Prepare rooms and supplies and maintain stock levels.

REGISTERED NURSE POSITION SUMMARY

A Registered Nurse (RN) delivers quality care consistent within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Registered Nurses. The RN works in accordance with local practice acts and regulations, delegates and ensures supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel appropriate to their scope of practice. The RN assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of care delivered; works to ensure a safe environment for themselves, the patient and other staff members. The RN acts as a patient advocate to promote the quality of health care delivered in the facility and serves as a leader at all times to promote best practices within the profession of nursing.

REGISTERED NURSE SCHEDULE

• Full-Time
• Day shift
• 6 amp-6pm
• 3x12
• Rotating weekends
• Every other holiday

REGISTERED NURSE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• The RN maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
• The RN administers medications to patients and monitors patients for reactions and side effects.
• The RN records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• The RN monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients’ condition.
• The RN consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
• The RN modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
• The RN monitors all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
• The RN directs or supervises less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
• The RN prepares patients for and assists with examinations or treatments.
• The RN instructs individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, as well as developing health improvement programs.
• The RN prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
• The RN orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition.
• The RN attends training and meetings as required.
