Job summary

COGENT Infotech is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support the medical unit at the County Jail in Pittsburgh, PA. The role is a full-time contract with a minimum of 22 weeks, with extension potential based on performance.

The position offers a 40+ hour work week with day/evening/night shifts and every other weekend. New grads are welcome to apply and must obtain PA RN licensure and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Pennsylvania RN license/Compact or Temporary Practice Permit.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Experience in a hospital, clinic, healthcare, or correctional setting preferred.
• Comfortable working in a secure correctional environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and health screenings.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies.
• Start, monitor, and maintain IVs.
• Respond to medical emergencies.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff.
• Provide care to incarcerated patients within the jail medical unit.
• Intake health assessments and IV therapy.
• Blood draws, medications, emergency response, and clinical judgment.

Registered Nurse (RN) – County Jail (New Grads Welcome!)

Pittsburgh, PA | $48/hr | Full-Time Contract

Cogent Infotech/CWS Health is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the medical unit at the County Jail in Pittsburgh, PA.

This is a full-time, 22-week minimum contract can be extended multiple times if contractor performs well and is a good fit for the role.

Schedule

• 40+ hours per week
• Day: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
• Evening: 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
• Night: 10:00 PM–6:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• 8-hour shifts; 12-hour shifts are not available

Requirements

Clearance & Onboarding

Selected candidates must complete:

• Security clearance
• Current photo ID submission
• 2-Step TB or QuantiFERON
• PA Child Abuse Clearance
• Security Training
• Medical orientation

Important Facility Information

• Healthcare staff are required to wear black scrub tops and black scrub bottoms
• Cell phones and smart watches are not permitted beyond the employee entrance unless authorized
• Staff must complete security screening when entering the facility
• New hires receive formal jail safety and security training before beginning work
