Job summary

Wisconsin Resource Center (DHS) is seeking full-time registered nurses to care for adults with complex psychiatric conditions in a secure correctional setting. The RN will provide routine and complex patient care, using the nursing process and working with a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment learning plans.

Shifts include rotating AM/PM, PM, and night options. Eligibility for Wisconsin licensure is required or anticipated at appointment. Background checks and I-9 eligibility apply.

Job description

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting full‑time registered nurses (RN) to care for adults with complex psychiatric conditions in a secure correctional setting.

Position Summary

As an RN at WRC, you will provide routine and complex patient care within a secured treatment setting, utilizing the nursing process and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment learning plans.

Shifts
  • Rotating AM/PM: 6a.m.–2:30p.m. and 2:30–10:30p.m.
  • PM: 2–10:30p.m.
  • Night: 10p.m.–6a.m.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on treatment learning plan development regarding health care needs and nursing interventions.
  • Assess learning needs of patients and staff.
  • Provide direction and educational activities to other staff.
  • Identify own learning needs and seek opportunities to enhance knowledge.
  • Promote quality patient care and a safe work environment through participation in nursing and institutional committees and continuous quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
  • Registered nurse licensure in the State of Wisconsin or eligibility to obtain licensure by the time of appointment.
  • Training or experience utilizing the nursing process to identify patient needs for nursing care.
  • Well‑qualified candidates may also have:
    • Training or experience assessing the physical and mental health of a patient.
    • Training or experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team, maintaining dignity and respect for all individuals.

Salary Information

Starting salary ranges from $42.86 to $49.61 per hour ($89,100 to $103,100 annually), based on years of licensure.• 0 years: $42.86; 3 years: $45.06; 5 years: $46.19; 7 years: $47.33; 9 years: $48.48; 11 years: $49.61.• Differential pay for shift hours: $1.40 per hour for first shift RNs (6p.m.–6a.m.); $3.90 per hour for permanent second or third shift RNs (6p.m.–6a.m.); $0.80 per hour weekend differential.• $3,000 sign‑on bonus for individuals with no prior state service in the last five years who remain in position after probation, split $1,500 upon hire and $1,500 after completing probation.• 12‑month probationary period.• Positions classified as nurse clinician 2 in pay schedule and range 11/02.

Job Details
