Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in weekly team meetings.
• Provide rehabilitation and coordinate medical needs for clients.

SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing care and treatment for people served in an intensive residential treatment setting that are experiencing significant mental health/psychiatric symptoms, who are demonstrating significant functional impairments, and who may have co-occurring substance abuse and/or personality disorder.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Attends and Actively participates in weekly team meetings

• Provides rehabilitation and coordinates medical needs for clients.

• Medication Monitoring and Administration by oral medication or needle injections

• Medication training for staff

• Orders, reviews, monitors, and discontinues medications as ordered by the physician

• Assist with keeping within assigned nursing budget.

• Conducting assessments

• Approving plan of care and service delivery methods

• Performs competency and skills evaluations on employees who provide direct care.

• Informing the physician and staff of changes in the client’s medical or mental condition and needs

• Coordinates psychiatric information with the psychiatric rehabilitation practitioners.

• Writes Progress notes, summaries, and discharges

• Reports significant / major incidents or accidents.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:

Qualifications/Education:

• Must be 21 years of age. Holds a bachelor's degree in nursing or related health and human services field from an accredited college or university with at least 2000 hours of experience with adult persons who have a serious psychiatric disability or*OR Holds an RN from an accredited two year program and has more than 6,000 hours of experience with adult persons who have a serious psychiatric disability.*Valid driver’s license and insurance required*Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.*Experience in managing systems, processes, and people.*Operate general office equipment*Good organizational skills and attention to detail*Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information*Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Physical demands: Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while lifting up to 50 pounds, must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull reach, sit, and walk for periods of time. Must have fine vision, sustained vision, and peripheral vision. Must possess sufficient eye/hand coordination to operate office, adaptive, and household equipment.Work environment: Light and ventilation as found in typical home or office setting. Hazards may exist if the employee fails to use proper body mechanics when lifting or transporting an individual or item, if vehicles are not operated safely, or if proper techniques are not used when intervening with individuals. The possibility of blood borne pathogens exists if universal precautions are not followed.
