Nexus Family Healing is opening a new 14-bed youth psychiatric residential treatment facility in Eugene, Oregon, seeking a Registered Nurse to join the on-site team. The RN will deliver client-centered medical care, coordinate with interdisciplinary staff, manage medications, and support residents aged 12–17 in a non-hospital setting.

A strong focus on diversity and inclusion guides daily practice. Starting pay ranges from $48 to $52 per hour with a $5k sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing is required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid RN license.
• QMHP qualified in Oregon.
• 1+ year of full-time nursing experience.
• First Aid/CPR/Infection Control certification.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work with diverse individuals and communities.
• Three-part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training is required.

Responsibilities

• Promote health and well-being of Nexus residents through client-centered nursing care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on medical aspects of admissions and follow-up.
• Collect and review medical data; maintain accurate medical records.
• Monitor and respond to acute and chronic conditions; provide treatment as needed.
• Administer medications, educate on side effects, monitor interactions and logs.

Nexus Family Healing is looking to add a Registered Nurse to join our newest Youth Psychiatric Residential Treatment facility set to open this summer in Eugene, Oregon!

Nexus Family Healing is expanding to Eugene, Oregon, with a new 14-bed psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) opening this summer! This location is in partnership with the Oregon Health Authority Behavioral Health Division and will serve justice-involved youth ages 12–17 experiencing acute emotional concerns and serious and persistent mental illness.

Position Summary

Our Nurse (RN) promotes the health and well-being to Nexus Family Healing residents by providing client-centered health care services, in accordance with Nexus Family Healing policies, procedures, and protocols.

Primary responsibilities

Resident Medical Care

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams regarding medical aspects of client admissions.
• Communicates medical concerns and coordinates necessary follow-up appointments and/or referrals with interdisciplinary teams both internally and externally.
• Collects and reviews clients’ medical data and ensures that medical records are current and accurate.
• Assesses nursing implications of all data pertaining to the resident and determines the need to communicate with the physician.
• Monitors acute and chronic medical conditions of clients; provides treatment or consultation as needed.
• In emergency situations, gathers relevant information and assesses client status. Provides appropriate care and/or treatment, directs others as necessary, and collaborates on referral to a higher level of care if appropriate.

Treatment Team Collaboration

• Serves as a resource to staff and other interdisciplinary teams regarding client medical concerns.
• Collaborates with the treatment staff to develop individual client treatment plans.

Implements, monitors, and coordinates medication administration to clients

• Verifies, counts, and administers medications to residents.
• Educates clients on medication side effects, adverse effects, and drug interactions.
• Monitors clients daily for side effects, adverse effects, and/or drug interactions.
• Ensures client prescriptions are filled, and the appropriate amount is maintained through each client’s stay within the residential milieu.
• Monitors medication logbooks for completion and accuracy.

Staff Meetings & Required Training

• Completes all required trainings that are department/role specific & facility-wide requirements.
• Maintains and stays up to date with trainings and certifications (i.e., online trainings, internal and external in-person trainings, CPR certification, nursing license, first aid and safety, medication administration, and infection control, etc.
• Participates in internal training opportunities with community partners.

Client Confidentiality

• Ensures client information remains confidential and compliant with Nexus policies involving client privacy, informed consent, and confidentiality standards for clients and their families.

Requirements

Required Education and Licensure

• Bachelor's degree required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Valid Registered Nurse License
• QMHP qualified in Oregon
• 1 + years of full time related nursing experience
• First Aid/CPR/Infection Control certification
• Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Home Office driving requirements
• Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
• Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
• Successfully participate and complete a three-part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention exam and training

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year related nursing experience in a residential setting
