Job summary

Luke & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse to support Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, CO. The role requires 24/7 coverage with 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends, in a military medical environment serving Soldiers and families.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN from an accredited program, an unrestricted U.S. license, and certifications such as BLS, ALS, and PALS; with at least two years inpatient nursing and one year ICU experience.

Qualifications

• BSN from an NLN-, American Academy College of Nursing-, or CCNE-accredited nursing program.
• Current, valid, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Two years of inpatient nursing experience within the past 3 years, including one year ICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care to complex, critically ill patients with continuous observation and monitoring.
• Intervene to prevent complications and restore health; administer emergency drugs as directed.
• Assist in procedures such as endotracheal intubation and invasive line insertion; monitor signs of deterioration.
• Coordinate care with physicians and other professionals; ensure infection control and adherence to policies.
• Educate patients and families and assist in care planning and referrals as needed.

Registered Nurse

Site of Service: Evans Army Community Hospital, 1650 Cochrane Cir, Fort Carson, CO 80913, and other applicable locations within the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and External Resource Sharing Agreement (ERSA).

Hours: 24/7 coverage with 12-hour shifts. Duty hours are 0700–1900 or 1900–0700. Nights and weekends required. Overage hours: 100. On-call hours: 312.

Position Overview: This registered nurse position supports the mission of Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson by delivering direct patient care in a military medical environment serving Soldiers, families, and beneficiaries. The role offers a clinically focused practice supporting readiness, access to care, and high-quality treatment in a federal health system.

Position Qualifications / Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an NLN-, American Academy College of Nursing-, or CCNE-accredited nursing program.

Licensure: Current, valid, unrestricted license specific to the position in any U.S. jurisdiction.

Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Experience: Two years of nursing experience in an inpatient setting within the past 3 years, with one year of ICU experience.

Duties

• Work involves physical exertion such as prolonged periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, lifting and positioning patients, and moving furniture/equipment.
• Provides an advanced level of specialized nursing care to complex, critically ill patients. Provides continuous observation and monitoring and intervenes to prevent complications and attempt to restore health. Administers emergency drugs as directed by a physician. Assists in the performance of endotracheal intubation and other duties as instructed. Interprets signs and symptoms of deterioration in condition and updates MD of changes. Consults with physicians regarding medical and nursing management. Ensures all infection control standards are applied in accordance with unit and department operating instructions. Assists the physician with procedures such as cardio-version and insertion of invasive lines, chest tubes, etc. Inserts intravenous catheters and performs venipunctures to collect blood samples. Assesses patient's response regarding cardiac output, vital signs, peripheral perfusion, and level of consciousness. Administers and regulates intravenous fluids such as lipids and blood volume expanders. Administers and regulates vasoactive drugs.
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
• Perform physical exam and health histories.
• Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
• Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
• Guide and advise care provided by other healthcare professionals.
• Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
• Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
• Perform nursing services identified in the TO.

Base Down Days

The MTF observes installation training holidays and base down days. The contractor shall not be required to work on these days and will not receive additional compensation.

Citizenship/English Language/Physical Capability: U.S. citizenship is required for this position. All contractor personnel must demonstrate professional proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and government personnel. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods; lift and move patients or equipment as required by the clinical setting; and perform the physical demands inherent to the specialty.
