Job summary

Position SummaryRegistered Nurses (RNs) provide direct nursing care to inmate patients, applying the nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation—in accordance with professional nursing standards. RNs collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure effective patient care and desired health outcomes.Correctional nurses deliver care to promote and improve overall health, often managing a patient population that has had limited access to healthcare prior to incarceration.
