Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies in Massachusetts is seeking a Part-Time Nights Registered Nurse for the Massachusetts Treatment Center in Bridgewater. The RN will deliver quality care within scope of practice, supervise nursing activities as appropriate, and advocate for patients in a correctional facility setting.

The ideal candidate will have a nursing degree from an accredited program, a current Massachusetts RN license, and the ability to work independently on night shifts.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or have graduated from an approved RN program.
• Must possess a current license in this state.
• RN works per local practice acts and delegates supervision of nursing activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Administers medications to patients and monitors for reactions and side effects.
• Records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients’ condition.
• Coordinates with healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate care plans.
• Modifies treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses.
• Directs or supervises less-skilled staff or a unit.
• Prepares patients for examinations or treatments.
• Educates patients and families on health topics and disease prevention.
• Maintains stock of supplies and ensures rooms are ready for procedures.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests.
• Attends training and meetings as required.

REGISTERED NURSE POSITION SUMMARY

A Registered Nurse (RN) delivers quality care consistent within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Registered Nurses. The RN works in accordance with local practice acts and regulations, delegates and ensures supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel appropriate to their scope of practice. The RN assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of care delivered; works to ensure a safe environment for themselves, the patient and other staff members. The RN acts as a patient advocate to promote the quality of health care delivered in the facility and serves as a leader at all times.

• Part-Time (24 hours/week)

REGISTERED NURSE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• The RN maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
• The RN administers medications to patients and monitors patients for reactions and side effects.
• The RN records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• The RN monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients’ condition.
• The RN consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
• The RN modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
• The RN monitors all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
• The RN directs or supervises less‑skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
• The RN prepares patients for and assists with examinations or treatments.
• The RN instructs individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, as well as developing health improvement programs.
• The RN prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
• The RN orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition.
• The RN attends training and meetings as required.
