Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital seeks a Registered Neurophysiology Technologist to perform EEG, evoked potentials, and nerve conduction studies in a full-time role at Lake Forest Hospital. The position requires an ENDT program completion or BS degree, or 5+ years EEG experience, plus BLS CPR certification.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm with variable night and weekend call coverage.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an ENDT program or BS degree is required.
  • In lieu of ENDT or BS, at least 5 years of EEG Technologist experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient for test and place recording electrodes using established protocols.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot technically inadequate signals; notify Neurologist as needed.
  • Document study and clinical observations; enter billing information upon completion of procedure.
  • Collaborate with team to maintain equipment, supplies, and a clean work area.
  • Provide patient explanations and address questions to ensure comfort and understanding.

The salary range for this position is $25.49 - $39.50 (Hourly Rate)

Description
  • This is a Full Time position at 40 hours per week located at Lake Forest Hospital. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm with variable night and weekend call coverage.**

The Registered Neurophysiology Technologist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

This Position Provides Neurological Testing And/or Monitoring In:
  • Electroencephalography and Evoked potentials
  • Electromyography/Nerve conduction studies
Responsibilities
  • Complete all required paperwork before study is performed including relevant patient history. Clarify unclear or inappropriate orders. Complete billing information upon completion of procedure.
  • Independently prepare patient for test and/or monitoring by accurately placing recording electrodes and using established protocols required for the procedure.
  • Recognize technically inadequate signals and obtain troubleshooting assistance if necessary.
  • Recognize abnormalities/potential changes and respond appropriately by communicating to appropriate neurologist.
  • Maintain equipment in clean and organized condition, including stocking supplies as needed.
  • Record study and enter appropriate notations and clinical observations.
  • Encourage teamwork through interdepartmental communication and constructive problem resolution.
  • Provide technical or administrative coverage in other areas of Neuro Testing Center as necessary.
  • Participate in departmental in-services, monthly staff meetings, and continuing education.
  • Assist in report typing, distribution, filing and other storage duties as assigned.
  • Provide consistent feedback and suggestions for improvement to Manager.
  • Provide written and/or verbal feedback to Manager on Neurophysiology Technician.
  • Provide patient with procedure explanation, address questions, and reassure and relax patient (as appropriate), and prepares patients for their procedure. Provide assistance to older adults as necessary through assessment of impairments that affect testing procedures.
  • Provides basic personal hygiene assistance to any patients as necessary.
  • Primarily requires interaction with patients of adult and geriatric age. Interaction with pediatric patients will be required for technicians performing EEG’s.
  • Participates in organizational and departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Communicates customer satisfaction issues to appropriate individuals.
  • Provides ideas and suggestions for process improvements within the department.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of training program as an Electroneurodiagnostics technologist (ENDT) or Bachelor of Sciences Degree.
  • In lieu of ENDT or BS Degree, at least 5 years prior experience as an EEG Technologist.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.
Preferred
  • Registry through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential technologists (ABRET) for EEG or board registry eligible.
