Job summary

BJC Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for a full-time outpatient role at Alton Internal Medicine on the campus of Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Illinois. The MA will assist physicians, prepare exam rooms, obtain vital signs and document accurately in the patient chart.

No call, no weekends, and no holidays are required. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered; the position is 40 hours per week with a day shift and benefit eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks exam room supplies.
• Obtains vital signs and patient history; maintains charting in the patient’s record.
• Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing and injections.
• Triage calls and relay test results to the provider with correct medical terminology.

Role Purpose

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides medical assistance under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position performs select duties for the promotion of health in the care of patients and delivers care according to practice protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.


• Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.


• Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing and injections.


• Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to provider with correct medical terminology.
