Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking an EEG Technologist to perform routine and advanced EEG procedures in a hospital and EEG clinic setting. This role requires CIR credential (R.EEG.T), and supports care coordination with a multidisciplinary team in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Position is PRN part-time with variable shifts including nights and holiday coverage. Candidates must be able to Lift and transport equipment and be flexible with on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Credential required: Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) or equivalent.
• BLS Certification or RQI for Healthcare Providers preferred.
• State licensure if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and continuous EEG hookups with correct electrode placement.
• Recognizes epileptiform brain patterns and follows protocols for best-practice care.
• Monitors and documents continuous video EEG procedures.
• Operates neurodiagnostic equipment and computer systems.
• Performs advanced EEG procedures (WADA, PET/SPECT EEG, Surgical EEG).
• Assists in training technicians under EEG Supervisor.
• Monitors equipment and coordinates troubleshooting.

Job Description

Accountable for performing and monitoring a full spectrum of Electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures. The position provides care to patients in the hospital and EEG clinic using neurodiagnostic technologies, and through coordination of care with other health care professionals.

Posting Specifics

• Shift Details: PRN (Part Time), Variable Shifts, 1 night shift required every 6 weeks and PCH Lehi Call shifts 2-3x a month, minimum of 2 holiday shifts in a rolling year.


• Location: EEG/Sleep Lab - Primary Children's both Lehi and SLC Campus


• Required: Current Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) credential

Essential Functions

• Performs routine and continuous EEG procedure hookups using best-practice electrode placement.


• Ability to recognize epileptiform brain wave patterns and follow established policies and protocols to provide best-practice care.


• Performs EEG monitoring, including documentation, of continuous video EEG procedures.


• Ability to use medical equipment and computers to perform neurodiagnostic procedures.


• Performs advanced EEG procedures including WADA, PET Scan, SPECT scan with EEG, and Surgical EEG, etc.


• Assists in the training of technicians under the direction of the EEG Supervisor.


• Monitors and tracks equipment and supplies and coordinates troubleshoot efforts when appropriate.


• Performs technical documentation and charting of neurodiagnostic patient procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) credential or equivalent


• BLS Certification or RQI for Healthcare Providers


• Licensed in the State of practice if applicable


• Availability to work varying shifts which may include nights, weekends, and on-call.


• Familiarity with technology including EEG acquisition systems and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ year of clinical EEG experience or direct patient care experience


• Proven ability to provide technical oversight to junior technicians


• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.


• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.


• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.


• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.


• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)


• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.


• For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
