Qualifications

• Requires Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments to determine patient nutrition needs.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans.
• Document nutrition assessments, interventions, care plans, patient response, and outcomes in the medical record.
• Provide nutrition education to patients, families/caregivers, staff and interdisciplinary team members.
• Provide guidance within the assigned area of coverage and support nutrition policies.
• Participate in quality, safety, and performance improvement activities.
• Supervise or mentor dietetic interns or staff as assigned.

The Registered Dietitian plays an important role in supporting patients within Primary Care by providing individualized nutrition assessment, education, and counseling based on each patient’s health needs and goals. Working collaboratively with providers and the care team, this position develops personalized nutrition plans, supports the management of chronic conditions, promotes healthy lifestyle changes, and helps patients overcome barriers to achieving improved health outcomes. The Registered Dietitian serves as a trusted resource for patients and clinical staff, integrating evidence-based nutrition strategies into comprehensive patient care.

This position manages a complex patient caseload, contributes to interdisciplinary care planning, and supports evidence-based nutrition practices, education, and quality improvement activities. The role serves as a clinical nutrition resource to patients, caregivers, healthcare team members, and nutrition services staff, while supporting organizational standards, patient care programs, and optimal nutrition outcomes.

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments to determine patient nutrition needs. Analyze and interpret clinical data using evidence-based standards, regulatory requirements, and nutrition practice guidelines.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to support coordinated care and optimal nutrition outcomes.
• Document nutrition assessments, interventions, care plans, patient response, and outcomes in the medical record in accordance with organizational standards and applicable regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, state, and local requirements.
• Provide nutrition education to patients, families/caregivers, staff, and interdisciplinary team members. Develop or support the development of educational materials, in-service programs, and other resources to promote understanding and effective nutrition care.
• Provide guidance within the assigned area of coverage. Support patient care policies and procedures related to nutrition services and serve as a resource and liaison to nursing, providers, and other clinical staff.
• Participate in quality, safety, and performance improvement activities. Contribute to outcome measurement, process evaluation, and initiatives that support high-quality nutrition care.
• In designated roles, provide supervision or oversight of assigned staff and/or dietetic interns. Serve as a mentor and resource to new or less experienced staff. Responsibilities may include participation in recruitment, training, onboarding, performance feedback, and performance management.

• Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

• Requires the knowledge and skills normally demonstrated by a Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field of study.
• Must hold current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
• Must possess a valid Alaska Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN) license.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and function independently. Must be effective at prioritizing assigned patient load.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1-3 years' experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
• Additional related education and /or experience preferred.
