Job summary

Qualifications

  • Current RD/RDN credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • State credentials for practice in Washington.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Experience with inpatient and outpatient nutrition care.
  • Experience with diabetes education and cardiac rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nutrition screenings and comprehensive assessments using patient histories, lab data, and weight trends.
  • Develop and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, renal conditions, and other needs.
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy across inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Deliver diabetes self-management education and nutrition counseling with ongoing follow-up.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, rehab staff and food services to coordinate care.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in the EHR.
  • Review patient menus and support therapeutic diet requirements with food services.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, nutrition services, and diabetes education program standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and updates to policies.

Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

    Experience & Qualifications:

    • Current Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

    • Appropriate state credentials for practice in Washington.

    • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field is preferred.

    • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or Board Certified–Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) credential preferred.

    • Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and individualized nutrition care planning.

    • Ability to provide effective diabetes education and support patients in setting achievable self-management goals.

    • Familiarity with enteral and parenteral nutrition support.

    • Strong communication, clinical judgment, and organizational skills.

    • Proficiency with electronic health records and timely clinical documentation.

    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.

    • Ability to prioritize responsibilities across multiple clinical programs in a community hospital setting.
