Job summary

The Sharon at SouthPark is seeking a Clinical Registered Dietitian to join our Health Services team in Charlotte, NC. The Dietitian will develop and oversee clinical nutrition services for residents in skilled nursing and assisted living, ensuring regulatory compliance and individualized nutrition care.

Responsibilities include nutrition screenings, care plans, PDPM support, collaboration with medical staff, and education for residents and families.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food Service Management, or a related field.
  • Current licensure with the North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition (NCBDN).
  • Working knowledge of dietetics, nutrition services, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nutrition screenings and comprehensive nutritional assessments for residents.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
  • Complete initial, quarterly, annual, and significant change nutritional assessments.
  • Support MDS/dPDPM processes related to nutrition services.
  • Monitor resident weights and intervene for significant changes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams on nutritional needs.
  • Participate in care plan, PDPM meetings, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal nutrition regulations.
  • Provide recommendations on therapeutic diets, supplements, and tube feeding.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on nutrition practices.
  • Supervise dietetic interns as assigned.
  • Provide nutrition consultations for Independent Living residents as needed.
  • Develop programs to enhance resident nutrition and wellness.

Position Summary

The Clinical Registered Dietitian is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing clinical nutrition services for residents in skilled nursing and assisted living. The Dietitian ensures nutritional needs are met, regulatory requirements are maintained, and residents receive high-quality, individualized nutrition care. This role works closely with nursing, medical providers, culinary services, residents, and families to support optimal health outcomes.

  • Conduct nutrition screenings and comprehensive nutritional assessments for newly admitted residents.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
  • Complete initial, quarterly, annual, and significant change nutritional assessments in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support MDS documentation and PDPM processes related to nutrition services.
  • Monitor resident weights and implement interventions for significant weight changes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary teams regarding residents' nutritional needs.
  • Participate in care plan meetings, PDPM meetings, quality assurance initiatives, and clinical conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations governing nutrition services.
  • Provide recommendations regarding therapeutic diets, supplements, and tube feeding regimens.
  • Partner with the Culinary Department to evaluate menus, meal plans, and software applications.
  • Assist with development and review of cycle menus to ensure nutritional adequacy.
  • Round during meal service to assess food quality, presentation, resident satisfaction, and nutritional concerns.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on current nutrition practices and health promotion strategies.
  • Monitor and report quality indicators, including weight-loss trends.
  • Supervise dietetic student interns as assigned.
  • Provide nutrition consultations for Independent Living residents as needed.
  • Develop and implement programs that enhance resident nutrition and wellness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food Service Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Current licensure with the North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition (NCBDN).
  • Working knowledge of dietetics, nutrition services, and applicable state and federal regulations.

Preferred
