Job summary

VHC Health is seeking a Registered Dietitian to provide quality and timely nutritional care to patients in an acute care setting. You will perform nutrition screening, assessment, and reassessment while aligning with hospital policies and documentation standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in health-related services and RD eligibility within six months. Experience in dietetics is preferred, and the RD will oversee RD Eligible staff, signing off on notes daily.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health-related services is required.
• One year of experience in dietetics and acute care is preferred.
• Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration to be obtained within six months.
• A RD will supervise RD Eligible individuals by reviewing and signing notes daily.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritional care to patients and perform nutrition screening, assessment, and reassessment.
• Understand nutrition policies and procedures relevant to clinical nutrition care.
• Educate patients and family members about nutrition plans and food-drug interactions.
• Review notes for RD Eligible individuals and place orders as appropriate.

Job Description

Purpose & Scope:

Responsible for providing quality and timely nutritional care to patients. Requires thorough knowledge and understanding of Regulatory, Departmental, and Hospital policies and procedures pertaining to nutritional care, including nutrition screening, assessment, and reassessment; food-drug interactions; enteral and parenteral nutrition support; patient education; and documentation. Must demonstrate competence in assessing the nutritional requirements of patients across the life-cycle, including: neonatal (birth -1 year), pediatric (1-11 years), adolescent (12-17 years), adult (18-65 years), geriatric (65 and over), and pregnant / lactating patients.

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of health-related services is required.

Experience:

One year of experience in dietetics and acute care is preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration to be obtained within six months.

Other Qualifications

A Registered Dietitian will oversee Registered Dietitian (RD) Eligible individuals by reviewing and signing off on their notes daily. A Registered Dietitian is responsible for placing orders for RD Eligible individuals when applicable.
