Job summary

Bethea Retirement Community seeks a Registered Dietitian to oversee clinical nutrition services across the community. You will develop individualized dietary care plans, perform comprehensive assessments, and partner with Dining Services to ensure meals are balanced and tasty.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical dietitian experience in SNF/Long-Term Care or similar setting.
  • CDR-credentialed RD/RDN; SC licensure or eligibility.
  • Knowledge of CMS guidelines, therapeutic diets, enteral nutrition, and geriatric nutrition.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and communication; resident-first mindset.

Responsibilities

The Role

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable Registered Dietitian (RD / RDN) to oversee clinical nutrition services across our senior living community.

In this vital role, you will be the expert on resident nutritional health-developing individualized dietary care plans, conducting comprehensive clinical assessments, and working side-by-side with our Dining Services team to ensure our meals are both nutritionally balanced and delicious. Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Nutrition Assessments: Conduct thorough nutritional assessments for incoming and current residents, evaluating medical history, lab results, dietary restrictions, and personal preferences.

  • Care Planning & IDT Collaboration: Develop and update individualized nutrition care plans, participating actively in interdisciplinary care plan meetings alongside nursing, therapy, and social services teams.

  • Weight & Wound Management: Monitor resident weight trends, skin breakdown/wound healing, and hydration status; recommend specialized clinical interventions, tube feedings, or supplements as clinically indicated.

  • Dining Services Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Dietary/Dining Director on menu planning, therapeutic diet accuracy, texture modifications, and food safety standards.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all clinical nutrition documentation complies with federal (CMS), state, and local long-term care guidelines.

  • Resident & Family Education: Provide compassionate dietary counseling and education to residents and family members regarding therapeutic diets and nutritional goals.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Credentials: Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

  • Licensure: Licensed Dietitian (LD) in the State of South Carolina (or eligible for state licensure).

  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical dietitian experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Long-Term Care, Assisted Living, or acute care setting is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of CMS guidelines, therapeutic diets, enteral nutrition, and geriatric nutrition requirements.

  • Skillset: Excellent clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and a warm, resident-first mindset.
