Job summary

ClearSky Health in Eau Claire, WI is seeking a part-time Dietitian to design and implement therapeutic nutritional care plans for patients based on physician diagnoses. The role requires integrating company values into daily practice and collaborating with the medical team to optimize patient outcomes.

You will monitor patient progress, document nutrition status, educate staff and families, and ensure menus align with prescribed dietary plans.

Qualifications

• Two years directly related experience in hospital setting preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutritional sciences, clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, or a related area required.
• Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required.
• Must be licensed as a Registered Dietitian as applicable per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in nutritional aspects of patient care by sharing specialized knowledge with others on the medical team, participating in patient rounds and conferences, recording in medical records, and assessing the nutritional status of patients.
• Monitors and documents patient progress and consults with physicians as needed.
• Notes food and drug interactions in the patient medical record.
• Educates and provides guidance to staff, patients, and families regarding diet and food plans.
• Administers and advises dietary operations to ensure menus comply with prescribed nutritional plans.
• Maintains current diet manual for therapeutic diets approved jointly by dietitian and medical staff.
• May work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
• Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
• Maintains regular attendance and completes required trainings.

The Dietitian designs and implements therapeutic nutritional care plans for patients, based on physician’s diagnosis, utilizing general dietetic standards and regulations. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Essential Functions:

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the nutritional aspects of patient care by: sharing specialized knowledge with others on the medical team, participating appropriately in patient rounds and conferences, recording in medical records, and assessing the nutritional status of patients, instructing patients, recording diet histories, interpreting and integrating therapeutic principles.
• Monitors and documents patient progress and consults with physicians as needed.
• Makes appropriate notation of food and drug interaction in the patient medical record.
• Educates and provides guidance to staff, patients, and families regarding diet and food plans.
• Administers and advises dietary operations to ensure menus comply with prescribed nutritional plans.
• Maintain current diet manual for therapeutic diets that have been approved jointly by the dietitian and medical staff.
• May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
• Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
• Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
• Completes required trainings, as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.

Minimum Job Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience:

• Two years directly related experience in hospital setting preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutritional sciences, clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, or a related area required.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:

• Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required.
• Must be licensed as a Registered Dietitian as applicable per state requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of current patient diet, food and nutrition research, and safe food handling requirement.
• Demonstrates an understanding of treatment costs and financial support as they relate to quality and efficiency.

Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:

A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time. Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs. Possible exposure to bodily fluids. Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care. Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
