Job summary

Qualifications

  • Registered Dental Assistant certification and active California X-ray license.
  • Coronal polishing and dental sealant certificates required.
  • BLS certification and ability to work in English; Spanish bilingual preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a dental assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide back-office support for the dental clinic.
  • Prepare exam rooms between patients and assist during procedures.
  • Take radiographs as necessary and manage instruments and equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control policies and PHI/privacy guidelines.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and post-procedure care.
  • Assist with patient flow and ensure a clean, stocked clinic environment.

If you're looking for a dynamic and purpose-driven environment, we invite you to explore the opportunity to contribute to our mission.Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Operations for Dental or designee, the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) will provide back-office support for the dental clinic.DAP Health is happy to offer a $5,000 new hire bonus for this position.Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneEssential Duties/ResponsibilitiesPerform all Registered Dental Assistant duties allowed under the Dental Practice Act of CaliforniaPrepare exam rooms between patientsDirect patients to and from exam roomsProvide patient care and assistance before, during and after dental proceduresPrepare and arrange dental instruments and equipment needed for each procedureTake radiographs as necessaryAct as backup to all dental assistants at all locations, as neededProcess used dental instruments and equipment to include receiving, cleaning, wrapping, and sterilization of semi-critical and critical itemsMaintain dental rooms to be clean and well-stockedEducate patients on proper oral hygienePerform routine dental cleaningsPerform dental sealantsAnalyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of actionWork efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment with multiple prioritiesConsistently act in a professional and courteous manner, help establish and maintain the highest service standards for the dental clinic, and comply with DAP Health’s policies and proceduresEnsure patient safetyGather, record, and update patients’ health information and history as neededAssist with the patient flow during clinic hoursCheck equipment to ensure proper functioningDemonstrate an understanding of and adhere to safety and infection control policies and proceduresDemonstrate an understanding of and adhere to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal informationShow sensitivity to differences in culture and provide service in a way that patients/families/colleagues perceive as positive and supportiveMaintain positive working relationships with all DAP Health Dental Clinic staff to ensure the continuity of care to all patientsAccess patient-protected health information as requiredInterface effectively in a team environment with agency staff, interns, and volunteersHandle crisis and stressful situations in an effective, calm, and respectful mannerPerform other duties as assignedRequired Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of dental assistant procedures, treatment planning, principles and methods of sterilizationKnowledge of Digital X-ray and Electronic Dental Records requiredAbility to:Interpret client files and dental chartsLearn and navigate through the Epic systemHave basic computer skillsComprehend and follow oral and written directionsMaintain a professional and courteous demeanor with all individualsRead, write, and communicate in EnglishEffective written and verbal communication skills with all levels of individualsBilingual in Spanish/English preferredEducation and ExperienceRegistered Dental Assistant Certificate – Completion of a Dental Assistant accredited program or schoolXray License CertificateCoronal Polishing CertificateDental Sealant CertificateCurrent American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited Basic Life Support (BLS) CertificationMinimum of (1) year experience as a dental assistant preferredWorking Conditions/Physical RequirementsAbility to lift 24 poundsOperates in a clinical setting at times and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motion, and talkingInvolves contact with patients or patient specimens.
