Job summary

SESI Schools in Sacramento, a division of FullBloom, is hiring an Assistant Teacher to support small groups of students and reinforce classroom curricula. You will monitor behavior, track progress, and communicate with parents while aiding teachers with instructional activities.

Responsibilities

• Work with students to reinforce learning of material or skill initially introduced by the teacher by assigning appropriate tasks and providing one-on-one tutorials.
• Assist the Teacher with large group activities, correcting papers and supervising testing.
• Utilize behavior support and intervention strategies.
• Implement de-escalation techniques and safety procedures as needed.
• Support and document students’ growth toward academic, social, and emotional goals.
• Supervise students and ensure they are always monitored within school premises.

About Us

Sierra School of Sacramento is a nonpublic, special education school that serves students from K – 12th grade (ages 5-22). We utilize unique education models, an effective positive behavior management system, and multiple mental health techniques to increase academic awareness, develop social skills and cultivate proper classroom behavior in each of our students. Our goal is to work along side the student to improve academic and social success so that the student can return to a least restrictive setting. The Opportunity

We will be responsible for working with small groups of students and the teacher to deliver individualized services and supports. They will monitor student behavior, track educational progress, and communicate with parents. Additionally, they will help reinforce the curriculum provided by the teacher. Every child deserves to reach their full potential and we’re looking to hire an exceptional Assistant Teacher who will play an essential role in fueling student success.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with students to reinforce learning of material or skill initially introduced by the teacher by assigning appropriate tasks, completing one-on-one tutorials, and implementing the SESI rotation model
• Assist the Teacher with large group activities, correcting papers, supervising testing, guiding independent study or enrichment activities, providing accommodations and modifications as necessary
• Utilize behavior support and intervention strategies
• Implement de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint if necessary to maintain the safety of students and staff
• Support and document students’ growth and progress towards academic, social, and emotional goals
• Supervise students and ensure they are always monitored, including to and from appropriate locations within the school
• Light lifting, walking, and/or climbing stairs may be required

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• College experience and/or Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Experience working with youth preferred
