Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to join our clinical treatment team. In this specialized inpatient role, you will work directly within our Specialized Needs Unit (SNU), implementing critical Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions for patients experiencing acute developmental, intellectual, or behavioral health challenges.

Unlike traditional outpatient clinic or home environments, our hospital setting allows you to collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary medical team—including Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), nurses, and psychiatrists.

  • Execute individualized behavior intervention and skill-acquisition plans designed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Monitor patient progress on the unit, utilizing approved de-escalation and behavior-reduction strategies to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
  • Track and record precise behavioral data using clinical software to measure target behaviors and intervention efficacy.
  • Participate actively in treatment planning by identifying patient strengths and behaviors, suggesting modifications, and providing critical input for discharge routing.
  • Assist Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) and floor staff using the Behavior Skills Training approach to ensure consistent plan execution.
  • Encourage and facilitate patients' participation in therapeutic activities.
  • Orient new patients to unit, program, and setting.
  • Assist patients in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the patients' treatment plan and needs, age, and developmental level.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
  • Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential from the BACB required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with individuals with developmental, intellectual, or acute behavioral disorders is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, emotional resilience, and the physical stamina required to respond quickly to crisis situations on an acute unit.
