Job description

Position Overview

Innovative Vitality ABA, Inc. is seeking compassionate, dependable, and professional Registered Behavior Technicians to provide high-quality, individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children in their homes and communities.

The RBT works directly with assigned clients under qualified supervision to implement treatment programs developed or approved by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), collect objective clinical data, support meaningful skill development, and maintain professional communication with the client’s care team.

Registered Behavior Technicians are expected to implement clinical protocols with fidelity, maintain accurate documentation, participate actively in supervision and competency evaluation, and remain compliant with all requirements associated with their RBT certification.

The ideal candidate is patient, receptive to feedback, comfortable working independently in home-based settings, and committed to client dignity, safety, confidentiality, ethical practice, and high-quality service delivery.

Required Education, Certification, and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.

  • Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification required.

  • RBT certification must remain active and in good standing throughout employment.

  • At least one year of ABA or closely related direct-care experience preferred.

  • Recent experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder or related developmental disabilities preferred.

  • Experience providing services in client homes or community settings is helpful.

Certifications, Clearances, and Transportation

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain it within IV’s required timeframe.

  • Completion of required sexual-harassment prevention, mandated-reporter, safety, and company training.

  • Successful Live Scan/fingerprint and Child Abuse Central Index clearances, as applicable.

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.

  • Ability to maintain all position-related credentials, clearances, certification requirements, and training requirements throughout employment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of ABA principles, prompting, reinforcement, skill acquisition, behavior reduction, and objective data collection.

  • Ability to implement individualized treatment plans and written clinical protocols with fidelity without independently changing treatment procedures.

  • Ability to follow operational definitions and established measurement procedures accurately.

  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to accept coaching, demonstrate procedures, participate in competency review, and incorporate performance feedback.

  • Strong organization, dependability, time management, and attention to documentation deadlines.

  • Professional, compassionate, culturally responsive, and positive approach with clients and families.

  • Ability to travel between assigned service locations and work independently while maintaining regular communication with the supervising team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement ABA treatment programs. Follow individualized treatment plans, behavior intervention plans, skill-acquisition programs, reinforcement procedures, prompting protocols, visual supports, and other clinical instructions developed or approved by the supervising BCBA.

  • Provide direct 1:1 ABA services. Deliver individualized behavioral intervention and skill-building services to assigned clients in home and authorized community settings.

  • Implement programs with fidelity. Follow established clinical procedures consistently and seek supervisory guidance before making changes to treatment procedures.

  • Teach meaningful skills. Support communication, social interaction, play, self-care, adaptive living, safety, school-readiness, and other goals identified in the client’s treatment plan.

  • Collect objective data. Record accurate behavior and skill-acquisition data during each session using IV-approved systems and established measurement procedures.

  • Complete documentation. Submit complete, individualized session notes, timekeeping entries, incident documentation, and other required records within established timelines. Never copy, falsify, backdate, or document services that were not provided.

  • Follow safety and behavior protocols. Use approved antecedent strategies, prompting, reinforcement, redirection, de-escalation, crisis-prevention, and emergency procedures within the scope of training and demonstrated competence.

  • Participate in RBT supervision. Maintain regular communication with the supervising BCBA or qualified supervisor, participate in direct observation, competency review, and required supervision activities, and immediately report clinical or safety concerns.

  • Collaborate professionally. Maintain respectful communication with clients, caregivers, coworkers, supervisors, and authorized team members while remaining within the RBT role and avoiding independent clinical recommendations.

  • Protect client rights and confidentiality. Maintain HIPAA compliance, professional boundaries, client dignity, privacy, assent, and respectful, person-centered interactions.

  • Participate in training and development. Attend required supervision, staff meetings, QBS or other safety training, competency assessments, and professional-development activities.

  • Support continuity of care. Arrive on time, remain actively engaged during sessions, provide timely notice of attendance barriers, and cooperate with reasonable scheduling or coverage needs.

  • Report incidents and concerns. Immediately follow required procedures for injuries, elopement, suspected abuse or neglect, significant behavior, medication or health concerns, confidentiality issues, and other reportable events.

Employees working as Registered Behavior Technicians must:

  • Maintain active RBT certification throughout employment.

  • Comply with all applicable BACB supervision, competency, renewal, ethics, and self-reporting requirements.

  • Participate in required supervision and competency assessments.

  • Practice only under qualified supervision and within the boundaries of their training, competence, and authorized role.

  • Immediately notify Innovative Vitality ABA, Inc. of any certification expiration, lapse, investigation, sanction, restriction, or other change that may affect their ability to provide RBT services.
