Job summary

Strategic Kids is seeking a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to support K-12 students with disabilities in Orange County, California. The role offers 1:1 instruction during the school day, implementing IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans, while promoting independence and positive behavior strategies.

You will collect behavioral data, collaborate with teachers, and provide individualized support to students with special needs, with CPR/First Aid certifications provided if needed.

Qualifications

Overview

We're hiring an RBT to support K-12 students with disabilities in Orange County. In this role, you'll provide individualized 1:1 support to a student throughout the school day by implementing their IEP goals, Behavior Intervention Plan, and positive behavior strategies while promoting independence and participation. This role involves collecting behavioral data, supporting emotional regulation, responding safely to challenging behaviors using evidence-based de-escalation techniques, and collaborating with teachers and special education staff to ensure consistent, student-centered care.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support to an assigned student throughout the school day, including during instruction, transitions, recess, lunch, and off-campus or field trip activities.

Implement the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), positive behavior support strategies, and IEP goals with fidelity.

Collect accurate behavioral data (e.g., frequency, duration, ABC data) throughout the day and provide it to the supervising behavior professional for plan review and adjustment.

Use proactive, positive, and evidence-based strategies (e.g., reinforcement systems, visual supports, de-escalation techniques) to prevent and respond to challenging behaviors.

Provide individualized support to students with special education needs.

Assist teachers with classroom management and activities.

Use positive reinforcement and structured behavior management.

Must Have Requirements

At least 6 months of experience working or volunteering with children with students with disabilities

Strong communication, patience, and positive reinforcement skills.

Ability to adapt to varying student needs and maintain composure under pressure.

High school diploma or equivalent (education students encouraged to apply).

CPR/First Aid certification (provided if needed).

Must be 18 years or older

Nice to Have

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification

Students pursuing Education / Child development / Psychology coursework or degrees encouraged to apply

Experience in after-school programs, summer camps, tutoring, or youth mentoring
