Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group in the United States seeks a Registered Architect to lead industrial facility design from programming through construction documents. You will guide a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with process engineers on manufacturing installations.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in industrial design, strong ISO clean room knowledge, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, and MS Project.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading facility design from programming to construction documents.
  • Experience in advanced technologies and life sciences sectors preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare architectural designs and construction documents for industrial facilities.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate design with process engineers on installations of production equipment.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals and shop drawings through pre-construction and construction.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes.

You will join our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.What You’ll DoYou'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.Prepare architectural designs and construction documents for industrial facility interior and exterior renovations as a part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary A/E teamInvestigate and design building envelope systems including all components of roofs and wallsAssist the owner or project manager in defining the facility requirements/program for projects in advanced technologies, life science, pharma, and food and beverage designOversee the work of associate architects and designersLead the architectural design and multi-disciplinary industrial and manufacturing project teamsDefine the industrial facility program requirements based on an understanding of the client’s production process flow and space environmental needsConduct code research specific to the project site, program, and proposed useCreate integrated solutions and communicate key concepts to the clientDevelop the base plan and coordinate technical requirements to other engineering disciplinesDevelop design intent based on client objectivesResearch material options or alternative building methods as necessaryDevelop specifications and direct preparation of technical plans and related documents for permit acquisition and constructionAnswer RFIs and review submittals and shop drawings throughout the pre-construction and construction phases of the projectManage and provide guidance to architectural designersMake an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and teamWhat You’ll BringA working knowledge of code studies/evaluations for life science facilities or hazardous/classified areas (preferred)A minimum of 7 years of industrial/manufacturing architectural design experience with a proven ability to lead the facility design from the programming/concept phase through the production of construction documents, permit acquisition, and site implementationA minimum of five years of experience executing industrial projects in the advanced technologies and life science sectors (preferred)Food and beverage or heavy industrial/manufacturing project experience (preferred)A strong working knowledge of local, state, and national building codesExperience in the development and creation of construction documents for pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or food and beverage industries (preferred)Experience in the design of greenfield facilities and in the renovation of existing buildingsExperience in the design of ISO clean rooms, and labs and processing spaces (preferred)Experience in the design of cold storage and refrigerated processing environmentsExperience in coordinating design with process engineers on industrial installations of production equipment (preferred)Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with our team members and clientsProficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Microsoft ProjectA Bachelor of Architecture (BArch)A registered architect (RA) licenseA Master of Architecture (MArch) (preferred)A NCARB license (preferred)Our culture and commitment to our people is what sets us apart.
