Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking a Regional Risk Manager for Private Wealth Management to identify and mitigate business risks across US PWM operations. You will collaborate with PWM leaders, Compliance, Legal and Strats teams, ensuring risk controls align with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

You will review client portfolios, monitor activity, and develop risk reports for leadership. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, with some travel to regional offices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial organization, preferably in private wealth or a compliance/risk function.
• Knowledge of products typically held in private wealth management including structured products and derivatives.
• Outstanding analytical skills; ability to work with detailed financial data and communicate commercial implications.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; confidence to work closely with senior management.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently, and think clearly under pressure.
• Track record of team-oriented success.
• Good judgment and discretion.
• Periodic travel to PWM Regional Offices may be required (0-5%).
• Series 7, 63 and SIE required (or to be obtained within 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze client portfolios from a risk and suitability perspective, including activity history and client communication.
• Identify inconsistencies between client activity and internal policies/objectives, and address with PWM team.
• Keep PWM teams updated on regulatory changes and educate staff on policies.
• Collaborate with PWM, Product, and Strats teams to identify accounts with excessive economic risk and set risk thresholds.
• Document client profile changes, portfolio reviews, and notable account activities.
• Work with Compliance and Legal to assess risks and make decisions on potential opportunities.
• Report at PWM Risk Working Group meetings and develop risk reports for client presentations.
• Respond to regulatory and audit requests with Compliance and Legal.
• Participate in regional supervisory reviews of PWM accounts.
• Develop risk analytics/reports with Strats team for internal/external use.
• Report to PWM Management and Regional Management on key client risks and mitigation steps.
