Job summary

Harbor Health Systems is seeking a Regional Vice President of Operations to oversee multiple Skilled Nursing Facilities in the assigned region, driving operational excellence, quality of care, and financial performance. Regional Vice President of Operations
Position Overview

The Regional Vice President of Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for the operational oversight and performance of multiple Skilled Nursing Facilities within an assigned region. This role maintains accountability for regional profit and loss performance and drives achievement of key business objectives related to quality of care, operational excellence, productivity, customer satisfaction, financial performance, employee engagement, and growth.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for multiple Skilled Nursing Facilities.

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality resident care and customer service across all assigned locations.

  • Establish, implement, and monitor operational strategies that support organizational goals and profitable growth.

  • Conduct regular facility visits to assess operations, support leadership teams, and ensure consistent execution of standards and initiatives.

Financial Performance
  • Develop, manage, and maintain regional operating budgets.

  • Analyze financial statements, P&L reports, and key performance indicators to identify trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.

  • Implement expense management and cost-containment initiatives while maintaining quality outcomes.

  • Develop and execute revenue enhancement strategies to improve financial performance.

Census Growth & Business Development
  • Partner with facility leadership and marketing teams to drive occupancy growth and expand market presence.

  • Develop and support business development initiatives that increase admissions and strengthen referral relationships.

  • Monitor census trends and implement strategies to achieve growth objectives.

Leadership Development & Talent Management
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and develop Nursing Home Administrators, Executive Directors, and other key facility leaders.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.

  • Support employee retention through workforce development, coaching, recognition, and performance management initiatives.

  • Provide guidance and support regarding employee relations, counseling, corrective actions, and leadership succession planning.

Clinical & Regulatory Oversight
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership teams to ensure appropriate staffing levels and quality outcomes.

  • Monitor facility compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing skilled nursing operations.

  • Support regulatory survey readiness and corrective action planning when necessary.

  • Ensure regional facilities maintain compliance with quality and safety standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with regional and corporate partners across clinical, financial, human resources, operations, and marketing functions.

  • Assist in resolving escalated concerns, complaints, and hotline-related matters.

  • Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, professionalism, and accountability.

Qualifications
Required
  • Active Florida Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) License.

  • Minimum of 10 years of skilled nursing operations experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of regional, multi-site leadership experience overseeing five or more skilled nursing facilities.

  • Demonstrated success improving operational performance, quality outcomes, resident satisfaction, census growth, and financial results.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development experience.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business reporting tools.

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of revenue growth, expense control, and organizational development within post-acute or long-term care settings.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Direct supervision of Facility Administrators, Executive Directors, Regional Administrators, and other assigned leadership personnel.

  • Oversight of overall facility operations across the assigned region.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily within healthcare and long-term care settings. Regular interaction with residents, families, employees, and healthcare professionals is required. The role may involve exposure to infectious diseases, medical environments, and emotionally sensitive situations.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel throughout facilities and properties to conduct operational assessments and inspections.

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, climb stairs, and perform routine physical activities associated with facility visits.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to navigate various healthcare environments, including maintenance and operational areas when necessary.

Travel
  • Up to 75% travel required throughout the assigned region.
