Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is hiring a Regional Service Technician to support multiple branches within the region. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or software issues and performing preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.

You will maintain logs, assist shop technicians, and travel 50–75% regionally as needed. A high school diploma or GED plus 5+ years of mechanic experience is required; travel and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanic experience with IC engines, propane, electrical and hydraulic experience.
• High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired.
• Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
• Ability to prioritize work assignments.
• Ability to work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments.
• Must possess a high degree of safety-awareness.
• Must own and be able to effectively and safely use mechanic's tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, isolate, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or software issues using systematic methods
• Follow manufacturers requirements in performing preventative maintenance
• Operate and function test equipment to verify machine performance
• Maintain meticulous logs of work orders, parts inventory, asset conditions, warranty and repair history.
• Support, train, and guide shop technicians on service, safety and best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description Summary

Position Objective:

The primary function of the Regional Service Technician is to provide direct support to all branches within the region.

• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Must possess a high degree of safety-awareness
• Working knowledge of equipment design and safety requirements
• Prior floor care equipment experience strongly preferred
• Ability to travel 50-75% - frequently requiring overnight stays
• Ability to travel throughout the region as required
• Excellent communication, organizational and change management abilities.
• Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record history.
• Must own and be able to effectively and safely use mechanic's tools and equipment
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
