Job summary

Waste Pro offers a Safety Trainer role focused on ensuring all operational personnel meet company safety standards. The trainer collaborates with management and HR to promote safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across the organization.

Essential duties include Day One safety and CDL driving training, mentoring regional staff, and driving ongoing improvement of safety programs. Strong communication and a proven safety background are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• CDL Class A or B with clean driving record.
• 5 years of Waste Industry driving experience preferred.
• 5 years of safety experience preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial (Day One) safety training to all new employees.
• Provide initial safe driving training to new employees with CDLs.
• Train and certify Mentors in the region.
• Partner with region safety manager to review training effectiveness.
• Train and certify Supervisors and OM's in Smith System safety.
• Review remedial training for high risk employees with safety manager.
• Provide ongoing training and feedback to supervisors.
• Review 3rd Eye video for coaching opportunities.
• Promote continuous improvement of health and safety programs and tools.
• Provide professional driving expertise to safety and operations teams.
• Foster safety culture across management and staff.
• Act as liaison between drivers and management for open communication.

Job description

The Waste Pro Safety Trainer is responsible for ensuring all operational personnel are trained to company standards. The safety Trainer in partnership with management and Human Resources works to promote the well‑being of the organization and the people in it by promoting a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship in compliance with applicable company policies and procedures encompassing federal, state, local rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• 1. Provides initial (Day One) safety training to all new employees
• 2. Provides initial safe driving training to new employees with CDL's including Smith System Driving, DOT regulations, Waste Pro policies and procedures
• 3. Trains and certifies all Mentors in the region
• 4. Partners with the region safety manager to review the effectiveness of Mentors
• 5. Trains and Smith System certifies to all region supervisors and OM's
• 6. Partners with region safety manager to review the effectiveness of remedial training for high risk employees
• 7. Provides on-going training and feedback to supervisors to improve their observations and commentary driving skills
• 8. Reviews 3rd Eye video to identify training/coaching opportunities
• 9. Promotes continuous improvement and standardization of existing health and safety programs, procedures, and tools to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Waste Pro best practices
• 10. Provides professional driving expertise and guidance to safety and operational teams.
• 11. Consistently seeks to improve the safety culture of both management and employees by ensuring safety is a consideration in everything we do.
• 12. Acts as a liaison between drivers and management to ensure open lines of communication

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
• Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro USA.
• Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

• Normal setting for this job is carried out in office, field and maintenance facilities.
