Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in Lacey, WA, seeks a Transportation Planning Specialist 4 to lead the Olympic Region Multimodal Planning Team. Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of transportation planning principles and current related laws, policies, and guidance.
• Proven ability to analyze data and prepare technical documents and reports.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across agencies and stakeholders.
• Effective written and verbal communication to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead corridor and regional planning studies and SPR activities, including scheduling and project management.
• Analyze transportation data, conduct research, engage communities, and develop planning studies and displays.
• Oversee staff and consultants; coordinate scopes, schedules, budgets, and project communication to leadership and partners.
• Travel to project sites, including remote locations within Olympic Region.
• Engage with local agencies, MPOs/RTPOs, and tribal nations; represent WSDOT publicly as needed.
• Assemble and evaluate data for traffic operations and travel demand modeling analyses.
• Lead staff development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
