Executive Manufacturing Leadership Opportunity

A highly established and growing global manufacturer is seeking a Regional Manufacturing Director to lead manufacturing operations across five plant locations throughout the United States and Mexico.

This highly visible senior leadership role will be based out of the company's corporate office in Columbia, Maryland, operating on a hybrid work schedule with significant travel to manufacturing facilities throughout the region.

Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

The Regional Manufacturing Director will be responsible for driving operational performance, developing Plant Managers, improving manufacturing processes, supporting capacity expansion, and creating greater consistency across a large multi-site manufacturing organization.

Location & Work Schedule

This position will be based out of the company's corporate office in Columbia, Maryland.

The role offers a hybrid work schedule, combining time at the corporate office with travel throughout the company's manufacturing network.

You will provide leadership across five manufacturing plants located throughout the United States and Mexico, partnering directly with Plant Managers and senior executive leadership to improve performance across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Multi-Site Manufacturing Operations

  • Provide leadership and operational direction across five manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Plant Managers and senior plant leadership.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability throughout the region.
  • Build consistency in operating practices and performance measurement between facilities.
  • Partner with executive leadership on manufacturing strategy, capital investment, capacity planning, and growth initiatives.
  • Create stronger alignment between corporate leadership and individual manufacturing locations.
  • Improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and manufacturing throughput.
  • Identify performance gaps and work with plant leadership to develop effective improvement plans.
  • Improve manufacturing flow, labor productivity, schedule attainment, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and remove production bottlenecks.
  • Develop consistent KPI reporting and operating reviews across all locations.
  • Establish sustainable performance-management processes across the manufacturing network.
Improve & Transform Operations

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an accomplished manufacturing leader who has successfully led complex operations and understands how to drive results through people.

Preferred Background
  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing or operations leadership experience
  • Significant Plant Manager, Director of Operations, Regional Operations, or equivalent leadership experience
  • Experience overseeing multiple manufacturing facilities
  • Proven success leading Plant Managers and senior operations leaders
  • Demonstrated history of improving plant performance
  • Experience with manufacturing turnarounds, operational transformations, or rapidly growing facilities
  • Strong Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement background
  • Experience driving improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and throughput
  • Experience supporting capacity expansion and manufacturing growth
  • Strong financial and operational business acumen
  • Ability to work effectively with executive leadership while remaining connected to plant-level operations
Experience That Would Be Especially Valuable

Experience within one or more of the following environments would translate well:

Experience leading manufacturing operations in both the United States and Mexico is strongly preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related discipline preferred.

Advanced degrees and Lean/Six Sigma credentials are beneficial but not required for candidates with exceptional operating experience.

Travel

Travel is expected to average approximately 40-50%, primarily between the company's five manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and Mexico.

Occasional international travel outside North America may also occur.

When not traveling, the successful candidate will operate on a hybrid schedule based from the corporate office in Columbia, Maryland.
