Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10 years’ relevant experience within an electrical utility company performing functional role responsibilities with at least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in budget management and preparation, and in proper administration.
  • Experience managing day-to-day operations, teams, defining and achieving departmental objectives.
  • Technical degree or Master's can substitute when combined with years of progressive relevant experience.

Job Summary:

Manages substation operations for an assigned division by supervising personnel and directing all operational and maintenance activities. Ensures safe, high quality, and efficient service delivery by providing leadership, guidance, and coordinated resources that strengthen customer service and overall operational performance.


Job Description:


  • Oversees direct and indirect reports by building capability, strengthening collaboration, and fostering a safety‑first culture; monitors performance, provides feedback, and supports employee growth to drive engagement, accountability, productivity, and achievement of departmental goals.

  • Implements strategies and manages resources to meet operational targets by defining and monitoring departmental KPIs and overseeing maintenance processes, ensuring operational performance aligns with business goals and driving continuous improvement.

  • Evaluates quality performance across workforce practices, standards, equipment, and service delivery, adjusting processes as needed and ensuring outcomes meet or exceed customer expectations through effective monitoring and corrective action.

  • Communicates effectively across the operational area by conducting regular staff and operations meetings, executing strategic plans, and reinforcing consistent safe work practices to enhance teamwork and operational effectiveness.

  • Controls departmental budgets and high‑level resource planning while monitoring financial performance across the operational area, taking corrective action as needed to ensure effective resource allocation and alignment of budgets, job costs, and expenditures with business expectations.

  • Coordinates cross‑functional collaboration and cultivate strong customer, internal, and stakeholder relationships to drive innovation, operational excellence, and long‑term partnerships through ongoing communication, strengthened teamwork across functions, and coordinated resource optimization.

  • Monitors, applies and guides team compliance with utility standards, labor agreements and regulatory requirements; and reinforces company policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring robust compliance with all applicable laws, industry regulations, and internal governance requirements.

  • Leads and validates the planning and execution of restoration and emergency preparedness activities to strengthen operational resilience and response capacity.

  • Assumes and oversees expanded duties aligned with organizational priorities and professional scope to drive departmental effectiveness and strategic alignment.

Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.


Experience


  • 10 years’ relevant experience within an electrical utility company performing functional role responsibilities with at least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role.5 years’ experience in Substations/ Transmission & Distribution.

  • Experience in budget management and preparation, and in proper administration.

  • Experience managing day-to-day operations, teams, defining and achieving departmental objectives.


Additional experience may substitute for required education when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role:



  • Technical degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 12 years of progressive relevant experience within an electrical utility company, with at least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role.

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 8 years of progressive relevant experience within an electrical utility company, with at least 4 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
