IAT Insurance Group in Plano/Spring, TX seeks a Commercial Surety Regional Manager to lead the regional business across TX, OK, LA, and AR in a hybrid work setup from the office Monday-Wednesday with remote options Thursday-Friday.

The role requires strategic leadership, underwriting expertise, and collaboration with agents and principals to achieve growth while upholding high ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; 10+ years in surety.
• Experience building, developing, and expanding distribution relationships.
• 8 years of relevant surety underwriting plus 2+ years of related experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require VISA sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement short- and long-range regional goals.
• Manage regional staff performance and development.
• Prepare and present annual budget for Regional Office.
• Establish and manage department expenses and budget.
• Drive regional initiatives and business strategies.
• Collaborate with agents/principals to align goals and strategies.
• Coach, lead and develop underwriters and participate in underwriting training.
• Manage regional agency plant for profitable outcomes.
• Make timely underwriting decisions within guidelines.
• Set regional growth targets with CCO and Home Office Underwriter.
• Ensure underwriting documentation and policies are followed.

Job description

IAT Insurance Group has an immediate need for a Commercial Surety Regional Manager located in our Plano, Texas or Spring, Texas locations. The Commercial Surety Regional Manager is responsible for the successful management of the Plano, Texas commercial surety business, which covers Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas. This senior leader must be recognized as a commercial surety expert in the industry to maintain credibility with agents and attract additional talent as the business grows. The goal is to position IAT Surety as both a valued partner to key surety producers and a recognized leader in the regional surety marketplace. This role will work a hybrid schedule from the office Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement short- and long-range regional goals and objectives.
• Manage the performance and development of regional staff.
• Prepare and present annual budget for Regional Office.
• Establish and manage the department expenses and budget.
• Drive regional initiatives and business strategies.
• Work strategically and tactically with agents/principals to ensure appropriate level of understanding of company goals and objectives.
• Coach, lead and develop underwriters and participate in the development of underwriting training.
• Manage regional agency plant to ensure positive and profitable outcomes.
• Within authority limit, make timely and prudent decisions consistent with approved guidelines and requirements within submission timeframe.
• Jointly with the Chief Commercial Officer and Home Office Underwriter, establish and manage regional growth and business targets.
• Accountable for the profit centers’ underwriting and accurate underwriting documentation and adherence to underwriting policies and procedures.
• Participate in industry functions to increase company visibility in the marketplace.
• Demonstrate superior responsiveness to agents and principals.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, more than 10 years of experience in surety with experience building, developing, and expanding distribution relationships or equivalent.
• Equivalent experience defined as 8 years of relevant surety underwriting experience along with 2+ years of other related professional experience.
• Experience must include significant commercial surety.
